Thomas Pash, President and Chief Executive Officer

Since the founding of ONTILITY, Tom has served as the President and CEO, guiding its vision and growth. Tom’s goal for ONTILITY is to build an industry-leading eco-sustainability firm that connects and enables the confluence of renewable, smart and efficient energy. His other entrepreneurial experience includes co-founding and serving as CEO of ZettaWorks, a global technology consulting firm, which Tom led from start-up to an industry leader with revenues in excess of $24 million annually in only four years. When ZettaWorks was acquired by Perficient (Nasdaq: PRFT) Tom joined Perficient where he was promoted from General Manager to Vice President. Tom led Perficient’s most profitable region and strategic business units. Tom has also held C-level roles within the high tech, hospitality and REIT industries; his leadership roles have spanned start-up stages through annual revenues of $500 million or market caps of over a billion dollars. Tom has an MBA from Pepperdine University and a BS in Business from the University of Houston.

Janet Hughes, Executive Vice President – Solar and Training

Janet leads ONTILITY’s Solar and Training strategic business units. Janet is a community leader as a business woman, educator and consultant.  She has been a pioneer in the development of the solar Industry in Texas for many years and has been training solar energy installers for electrical, solar contracting companies since 1997. Janet’s career encompasses over 25 years of electrical and business experience, including 15 years of photovoltaic expertise. Janet is a licensed Master Electrician and has extensive experience in small to large residential and commercial solar projects. Janet has lead, designed, and deployed hundreds of solar projects over the past decade ranging from 10kW to MW scale. Prior to joining ONTILITY, Janet was a principal in ADVEN – Advanced Energy Strategies. Janet is an active member or partner with the following solar and educational industry organizations: ASES, TREIA, NABCEP, IREC, ISPQ, LTCS, TREEC and American YouthWorks. Janet has a BA from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Clayton Farmer, Executive Vice President – Energy Management and Monitoring

Clayton joined ONTILITY in 2010 to head ONTILITY’s Energy Management and Monitoring business unit. In addition to his executive role, Clayton is active in the field consulting, training and raising eco, sustainability and green awareness. Previously, Clayton was founder and president of Bluegill Energy Management, a Houston based consulting firm providing construction, energy efficiency, and Green consulting/certification services. Clayton has over 17 years of experience in the construction industry holding positions ranging from field supervisor to corporate level executive and is a well known consultant, trainer, Green expert, and speaker with extensive building science experience in identifying and implementing energy conservation measures for new construction, as well as existing home and buildings structures.

Aside from being intensely involved with local organizations like the GHBA and national organizations such as the NAHB, RESNET, USGBC, and ASHRAE, Clayton has been a professional guest speaker at many local and regional conferences and trade shows on topics ranging from introduction to green thinking to technical aspects of sustainable building design. Additionally, Clayton serves as a select member of the City of Houston Energy Code Taskforce Committee and also chairs the Green Building Verification Committee for the GHBA.

Clayton is an accredited LEED AP, HERS Rater, Green Building Verifier, Energy Code Professional, LEED for Homes Green Rater, Green Building Examiner/Inspector, Certified Energy Auditor, and is one of eighteen individuals in the U.S. certified in the Green Building Code.

Brannon King, Executive Vice President - Energy Efficiency Consulting and Training

Brannon joined ONTILITY in 2010 to head ONTILITY’s Energy Efficiency and Training strategic business units. In addition to his executive role, Brannon is active in the field consulting and training. Previously, Brannon was Vice President of Energy Efficiency with DPIS Engineering. While at DPIS, Brannon headed engineering and code compliance work for the new construction industry across the United States. Brannon became a Rating Provider in 2001 and since then has been a solid producer of ratings for the new construction industry. Brannon has lead ratings for over 8000 homes since 2006. Moving from consultant to both consultant and educator, Brannon became a Rater Trainer / Provider in 2006. Brannon acquired the Quality Assurance Designee qualification in June of 2005. This is the highest level of qualification through the RESNET organization. Brannon is very instrumental in developing consistency and knowledge of ratings across his market.

Additionally, Brannon is an IECC Residential Plans Examiner and Inspector. He has had that certification since the inception of the category of certification. Brannon is the Vice President of the Texas HERO organization and will be the incoming President in the year 2010. He has been a board member of Texas HERO since 2005 and played a major role in the success of that organization and its status in the state.

Stephen Shelton, – EcoStrategist

Steve joined ONTILITY during the conceptual phase and continues to guide inter- and intra-company strategic planning and strategic marketing across the divisions. Steve is also a co-founder and Executive Director of the Louisiana CleanTech Network (LCTN), which started as an idea to have a local New Orleans based Renewable Energy Industry organization and grew to become the LCTN. Over the past two years Steve has worked with local and state government, NGO's, electrical utilities, green building and renewable energy companies to develop a Clean Technology and Renewable Energy industry in the state of Louisiana. Prior to joining ONTILITY, Steve was a principal in ADVEN – Advanced Energy Strategies. Steve has also worked in the construction industry to teach, promote, train, manufacture, and perform the installation of energy efficient technologies, including: radiant barrier systems, exterior sealed vapor barrier wrap with incorporated drainage planes, air infiltration sealing, correctly-sized and intelligent AC systems, geothermal HVAC systems, reflective roof surfaces, solar thermal systems, gas instantaneous and solar hot water heaters, natural daylighting systems, heat reflecting window films, and advance thermostatic and energy management control systems.

Lisa Ann Cairns, Ph.D., – EcoStrategist

Dr. Lisa Ann Cairns joined ONTILITY during the conceptual phase and continues to guide inter- and intra-company strategic planning and strategic marketing across the divisions. Lisa has over twenty years of experience working with communities on local sustainability issues in N. Europe and N. America. She joined the Smith network in 2001, and was the Chief Strategy Officer for ZettaWorks, LLC, where her main market focus was the energy sector from upstream through downstream. Lisa developed enterprise solutions and product portals for real-time data monitoring, synthesis, manipulation and presentation for the energy sector. Lisa is also a Senior Contributor to Smith & Associate's MarketWatch Quarterly and MarketWatch Commentary. Previously, Lisa was an Assistant Professor at Texas A&M University, where she was a NOAA Rapid Response Sea Grant recipient.  She received her Ph.D. (1998) and A.M. (1992) from The University of Chicago, during which time she was awarded the prestigious Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Grant by the National Science Foundation.  She holds a B.A. from Hofstra University, 1988, where she was the first woman undergraduate to be awarded a Fulbright-Hayes Research Fellowship.

Zachary Embry, Director - Partner/Installer Enablement

Zachary leads ONTILITY’S Partner/Installer Enablement initiatives. Zach has deep experience in the renewable energy sector working on a variety of activities that range from renewable energy system installation and design, solar thermal and solar electric education and public outreach, to implementing renewable energy related policies at both state and local levels. Zach is an experienced renewable energy installer of photovoltaic, domestic solar hot water, solar hydronic heating and micro-hydro systems for both the commercial and residential sectors. Aside from his technical familiarity of renewable energy systems he has previously acted as the U.S. Department of Energy’s Solar America Cities Program Lead for the City of New Orleans where he served as the City’s technical and policy advisor on renewable energy issues. He worked closely with City Officials and the U.S. Department of Energy to implement renewable energy related policies for both the Mayor’s Office and the Office of Community Development. While working for the City of New Orleans he helped train city code officials and contractors alike. Zachary also played a key part in streamlining the local utility’s net-metering and interconnection procedures and requirements as well as applying for and securing additional Federal Grants for renewable energy and energy efficient projects for the City of New Orleans. Zachary received his B.A. in economics from Hampden-Sydney College.

Eddie Haynes, Senior Solar Trainer and Solar Design Engineer

Eddie holds many key roles within ONTILITY. Eddie is a senior solar trainer, a senior solar design engineer and a senior solar project lead. Eddie brings ONTILITY over 25 years experience encompassing electrical, HVAC and solar. Eddie boasts over 600 NABCEP teaching and classroom hours and has designed and led over 70 solar installations. Eddie was a long time member of the electrical union and is an active participant within many renewable and efficient energy affiliate organizations. Eddie is a NABCEP lead trainer.

Tim Coats, Senior Solar Trainer and Solar Thermal Design Engineer

Tim holds many key roles within ONTILITY. Tim is both an instructor and consultant for ONTILITY. After completing the renewable energy program at Solar Energy International, Tim worked for Energy Conservation Services as their lead solar thermal and PV installer. Tim has designed and led both residential and large-scale, commercial solar and wind power and solar thermal projects. Prior to ONTILITY, Tim held various lead roles for Renewable Energy Systems where he specialized in deploying large-scale wind power projects. In addition to providing NABCEP-approved training in solar installation, Tim is a NABCEP and RESNET trainer.

Brian Cunningham, Solar Trainer and Solar Design Engineer

Brian is responsible for NABCEP Solar PV instruction and design consulting and engineering at ONTILITY. Brian has been designing and working with grid-tied and off-grid solar PV systems for over 10 years. Prior to ONTILITY, Brian spent 17 years performing electrical engineering design in the defense and telecommunication fields. Brian has extensive hands-on experience in electrical system integration and troubleshooting. Brian received his BSEE from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Ken Whiteside, Director of Educational Program Development

Ken leads ONTILITY’s ONTraining™ EcoEducation™ and EcoWorkforce™ Programs unit. Ken is a strong advocate for effective communications and educational innovation. During his tenure at Harcourt Educational Publishers, Ken served as a strategic planner and voice-for-change for online initiatives, including web-based curriculum delivery and learning management systems. Prior to his work with Harcourt, Ken helped pioneer instructional media services at the college level, serving as director of instructional media for a community college and director of learning resources for St. Edward's University. Ken began his career as a classroom teacher. Ken has a Masters degree in Educational Technology from Texas A&M University.

John Berry, Sales - Training and Dealer/Installer Program

John leads business development for ONTILITY’s ONTraining™ EcoEducational and EcoWorkforce Programs unit. John is a highly accomplished strategic business development, consultative sales and marketing executive. Before joining ONTILITY, John provided sales and marketing leadership for educational software companies and an IT consultancy. John specializes in creating innovative go-to-market strategies to maximize the impact of marketing efforts and developing business by building strategic relationships to gain market share. John has completed both the NABCEP Solar Installation Training and RESNET HERS Rater Training.

Jeremy Webb – Marketing and Web Strategy

Jeremy leads ONTILITY’s marketing efforts and web strategy. Jeremy’s responsibilities include driving the ONTILITY brand through the creation of marketing materials and through web design. Prior to joining ONTILITY, Jeremy was Web/Graphic Designer at Media Riot Productions, where he developed a range of creative and technical skills including web design and construction, video/audio editing, and graphic design. Most recently, Jeremy was Designer at Smith & Associates where he assisted in the development and execution of marketing and web campaigns.
